I figured for a first post I might just do an introduction as far as what Frog Host does and what the blog is going to be about for at least the next month. Frog Host is a division of Hawk Host Inc. specializing in a different kind of web hosting. This blog before the launch will talk about what we’re doing in preparation for the launch. Once we’re launched it’ll provide insight into a start up web hosting company. Although not 100% upstart due to the backing from Hawk Host Inc. (financial, staff and infrastructure) it will still provide some insight you typically do not see.
Hawk Host has no specialty as far as web hosting goes it offers shared, reseller and virtual private servers as well as some management as well. It offers plans ranging from $3.95/month on the shared hosting side all the way up to $12.95/month. Reseller plans ranging from $10.95/month up to $34.95/month and finally VPS plans from $20/month up to $65/month. Most end users and discussion forums associate Hawk Host with quality hosting most refer to it as budget priced while providing unheard of quality of service.
Frog Host is our unlimited hosting division competing with the likes of the largest shared hosting operations in the industry. We felt that it was not wise to offer such service under Hawk Host directly but to have a separate brand that specializes in unlimited hosting. Frog Host will be maintaining it’s own servers so this in no way affects current Hawk Host offerings. This includes it’s own brand new DNS cluster along with each web server. While many associate unlimited hosting with shady practices we never saw it this way. It’s always been a care free hosting service not much different from a hosting plan with space and bandwidth limits. With Hawk Host we have TB’s upon TB’s of excess space along with even more bandwidth in excess. So we have strong reason to believe even offering unlimited hosting nothing is going to change on that front. So the true limiting factor with most hosting services is CPU and memory usage as space and bandwidth but especially space can have nearly nothing used while using quite a bit of CPU.
So I think that’s the overview of what’s happening for now. We’re going to go more in depth as to what makes Frog Host different over the next few posts. We’ll also out line what’s been done thus far and what we’re working on.
Dual-brand strategy. I like it.
I have friends who’ve been thinking of getting their feet wet with starter Web hosting. I’m well aware of Hawk Host’s high levels of reliability and support, so I might send my rookie friends to Frog Host’s pond.
Great, looking forward to Froghost.
